Blocklist
Permanently prevent specific email addresses from being added to your audience.
The blocklist ensures that certain email addresses or domains are never added to your contacts — even if someone submits them through a form or the API.
When to use the blocklist
- A contact explicitly asks to never be emailed again
- You want to block role addresses like
info@,admin@, orsupport@ - Compliance requirements mandate permanent suppression (e.g., legal requests)
- Spam trap addresses you've identified
Adding to the blocklist
Go to Contacts → Blocklist and add entries:
- Email address — blocks a specific address (e.g.,
spam@example.com) - Domain — blocks all addresses at a domain (e.g.,
@competitor.com)
How it works
When Sendra tries to create a contact (through import, form submission, API, or manual entry), it checks the blocklist first. If the email matches, the contact is not created.
The blocklist also prevents sending to existing contacts whose addresses match — they're silently skipped during campaign sends.
Blocklist vs unsubscribe
| Blocklist | Unsubscribe | |
|---|---|---|
| Contact exists | No (or hidden) | Yes |
| Can re-subscribe | No | Yes (if they opt back in) |
| Blocks future creation | Yes | No |
| Use case | Permanent suppression | Subscriber preference |
