Double opt-in

Require subscribers to confirm their email address before being added to your list.

Double opt-in (DOI) adds a confirmation step: after submitting a form, the subscriber receives an email with a confirmation link. They're only added to your list after clicking it.

Why use double opt-in

  • Better list quality — only real, active email addresses make it into your list
  • Reduced bounces — no typos or fake addresses
  • Compliance — required by law in some jurisdictions (notably Germany)
  • Spam trap protection — bots can't add addresses that you'll then email

Enabling double opt-in

In your form settings, toggle Double opt-in on. When enabled:

  1. User submits the form
  2. Sendra sends a confirmation email to the submitted address
  3. The email contains a unique confirmation link
  4. User clicks the link
  5. Contact is created and added to the target list

If the user never clicks the link, the contact is not created.

The confirmation email

Sendra sends a simple confirmation email asking the subscriber to verify their address. The email includes your workspace branding.

When to skip it

Single opt-in (no confirmation) is appropriate when:

  • You're importing contacts from another platform where they already confirmed
  • The email was collected through a trusted, authenticated flow (e.g., in-app during account creation)
  • Speed matters more than list purity (e.g., a fast-moving product launch)
